Handley Page Victor B.3

Handley Page Victor B.3 Skybolt

The Handley Page Victor was an advanced aircraft but there were proposals to make it even more sophisticated. One of the many proposals that came along was for the aircraft to be re-engined with Rolls-Royce Spey turbofan engines to replace the original Conways. This necessitated enlarged intakes and nacelles which Handley Page demonstrated with a model. The model also featured four generic underwing missiles.

I have taken the model and imposed it twice on to a background of sky. I have then aged the image.

  1. What an aircraft that was! So hyper distinctive, just like something out of Thunderbirds. I could always recognise Vulcans with the naked eye and Victors with my (fairly poor) binoculars. I don’t think I ever saw many Valiants, just a couple or so.
